Assessment Officer

PROGRAM BACKGROUND:
World Learning is a non-profit organization advancing leadership in more than 60 countries. For 80 years, we have envisioned a just world driven by engaged citizens and thriving communities. To achieve this goal, we provide education, exchange, and development programs that empower people and strengthen institutions.
World Learning has been working in Pakistan since 2013. Under the International Rescue Committee, World Learning is operating the USAID-funded Pakistan Reading Project (PRP) to improve the quality of reading in public and private schools, supporting at least 2.5 million additional primary school students to read at a level commensurate with standards at their grade level. This goal will be supported by the mutually-reinforcing components of teacher education and professional development (PD), systems reform, and civil society engagement. The Pakistan Reading Project is being implemented in 67 districts of 8 provinces across Pakistan.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist Assessment Manager in providing support to department to analyse already developed standardized assessment tool like ASER / EGRA and their results (findings).
  • Support Assessment Manager in coordination with authorities to design provincial reading assessment tools.
  • Help Assessment Manager to provide support to PEAC/ KEACE team to identify and address system weaknesses through diagnostic assessment.
  • Assist Policy team to support DoE regarding formulation/ development approval and implementation of policies regarding teaching Reading and Reading Assessment in the region.
  • Assist Assessment Manager in developing and implementing monthly/ quarterly work plans, events calendar, and reports.
  • Give support in development of strategy to review existing situation of PEAS/ KEACE and in developing recommendations to strengthen these institutes with PEAC/KEACE teams.
  • Support component -2 team in organizing all events like workshops, meetings etc. from raising request for event management to report writing.
  • Facilitate team in coordinating with DoE officials to perform/ complete different activities of the project.
  • Maintain/ keep all necessary record of project activities for M&E purposes.
    QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum qualification Masters in social sciences preferably in Education.
    Work Experiences:
Have at least 02 year experience of participating in Assessment, survey, studies particularly for early grade students/teachers (experience at provincial/regional level will be preferred). Experience in early grade Urdu reading and experience in Urdu/Sindhi phonics for early grades will be an added advantage.
DEMONSTRATED SKILLS:
  • Demonstrated skills in working with education department preferably assessment related activities.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, in Urdu and English (Knowledge of local languages will be an additional asset)
  • Good report writing skill
  • Language and Computer Skills
  • Good computer skills in MS office
  • Good data management skills Travel:
