Career Opportunities: Internship, Partnership, Governance and Advocacy - Rome, Italy

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
The World Food Programme is the world's largest humanitarian agency, fighting hunger worldwide. We are currently seeking to fill an internship position under the WFP External Relations Office of the Partnership, Governance and Advocacy Division. The position will be based at our Headquarters in Rome, Italy, starting as soon as possible.
JOB PURPOSE
The selected candidate will be assisting the WFP Partnership, Governance and Advocacy Division  with the following key duties:
  • Assist in preparations for Committee on World Food Security meetings on topics such as but not limited to the Sustainable Development Goals, nutrition and support to smallholder farmers.
  • Support monitoring, data collection and knowledge management: including updating the RBA Collaboration Database on a regular basis; and keeping track on global RBA initiatives; 
  • Assist in maintaining a network of RBA focal points at both HQ and regional level;
  • Assist in updating internal guidelines such as but not limited to: RBA Collaboration Guidance Material; relevant sections in the Project Design Manual for Country Strategies / projects, etc.;
  • Assist in strengthening on-going partnerships with the Rome-based agencies at all levels;
  • Keep abreast of FAO and IFAD policies and programmes and undertake research upon request;
  • Attend meetings, take notes, prepare briefs, reports and statements, and alert management on strategic issues;
  • Assist in analysing various documents and preparing comments from a PGR perspective;
  • Perform other duties as required.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Currently enrolled and have attended University courses in the last 12 months inclusive of having completed at least two years of undergraduate studies or have recently graduated in the last 12 months in the following:   political science, international development, development economics, international relations, communications or other related field;
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point);
  • Fluent in English;
  • General knowledge of UN system policies, rules, regulations and procedures governing administration;
  • Knowledge of the Committee on World Food Security and the other Rome-based Agencies would be an asset;
  • Strong writing skills,  Coordination and advocacy skills in inter-governmental /inter-agency processes.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
  • Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP up to the amount of US$700 per month depending on the duty station of assignment.  The current amount for Rome is around US$600.
  • WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, travel to and from WFP internship location, necessary visas and costs related.

International Summer School on the Regulation of Local Public Services 20th Edition | Torino, Italy | 4-15 Sept. 2017

Overview


The School is designed to offer two weeks “full immersion”  in user charges regulation of local public services (e.g. waste, water, public transport, district heating, sport facilities) and is mainly addressed to undergraduate students at their last year, graduate students and officials from the Public Administration (municipalities, counties, regional bodies) and regulatory agencies.
 The course lasts two weeks and is articulated in three parts:
 - theoretical module
 - industry analysis
 - case studies (with a virtual regulatory final report prepared by attendants)

Applications and Deadlines

The application form will be online from the 1st of February 2017.
The deadline for the submission of the application form is the 5th of June 2017, h. 12:00 CET.
Admitted attendants will be contacted directly by email by the 16th of June 2017.
 

Cancellation policy for admitted students

 - Profile B: considering that the participation is free, a deposit is due (150 Euro with payment receipt returned by the date indicated on the admission letter); the deposit will be totally refunded to the attendant at the end of the Summer School (there is no deposit refund in case of cancellation)
 

Selection criteria applied

Curricula are evaluated on the basis of three main criteria:
1) relevance of applicant's studies and professional experience / current job position to the topics of the Summer School programme
2) balanced geographical distribution of selected participants (OECD / non-OECD members; distribution per continent; inclusion of applicants from Countries non represented in the previous editions)
3) balanced distribution of educational background (e.g. economics; environmental engineering; law; public administration; ...)
Moreover, in the case of curricula with similar score, also some attention is given to the selection of profiles with expertise in different sectors relevant to the domain of regulation of LPS (e.g. water cycle, waste, energy, ...).
Due to a limited number of available places, not all applicants on the ISS reserve list will be included in the class of 2017.  However, those on the reserve list will benefit from a 25% off discount for attending one of the courses in the Executive Education Programme. Youth Exchange: Care About (E)Urself, Italy

Description

The project is a youth exchange under the Erasmus+ programme, KA1 mobility of young people to be held in Colletorto (CB), Italy in May 2017 during the Europe day celebration. The main idea of the project is to reflect on the feeling of young people related to their belonging to European Union and its values and how this affects their self-development as active young citizens.
There will be 30 participants, young people 18-30 and group leaders with no age limitation coming from 6 European youth organization, from Italy, Romania, Cyprus, Turkey, Poland, Macedonia. During the project, participants will have the chance to share and learn more about themselves and about European Union, the benefits and advantages of being active citizens in their own communities, the challenges that nowadays they are facing in the actual Europe.
The project will be developed through the digital storytelling method, a great tool to connect their ideas, feelings and values related to the topic, releasing their potential and pro-action, dealing with digitalism in a smart approach, guiding them in an empowerment pathway mediated by the discover and interiorization of European Union values.

Eligibility

Young people 18-30 and group leaders with no age limitation coming from 6 European youth organizations, from Italy, Romania, Cyprus, Turkey, Poland, Macedonia.
