Fulbright Scholar Program

The Fulbright Scholar Program funds up to 12 months of lectureship, post-doctoral research, or a combination of the two at a U.S. college or university with one fully covered dependent. Persons selected are expected to share information about Pakistani society and culture with students, colleagues and community groups in the U.S. On returning to Pakistan, Fulbright scholars are expected to make a significant contribution to Pakistan's development and share their U.S. experiences with students, colleagues and community groups in Pakistan. The grant funds airfare, an incidental research allowance, a living stipend and health insurance. USEFP will assist with visa application process.

Eligibility Criteria
Scholars, professionals and artists from all disciplines are welcome to apply, with the exception of clinical medicine. Every applicant must either hold Ph.D. or terminal degree in his/her field. Successful candidates will have an excellent command of written and spoken English. They will have a clear and well-formulated proposal about what they would like to accomplish in the U.S. and how it relates to their work in Pakistan. The proposal is the most important single portion of the application. People applying for the lectureship must have demonstrated ability to teach in a university setting.
Ineligibility
  • Persons who have completed their Ph.D. within the last two years or who have been to the U.S. for research or other long term educational opportunities within the last five years.
  • Persons with a dual U.S./Pakistan nationality or who have a spouse, fiancé, parent or child over 18 year of age who is U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  • Employees and dependents of USEFP, or the U.S. Department of State.
  • Persons already studying in the U.S. or on a work/residence visa in any country.

All application materials (original and one copy), including references, must be submitted to USEFP. Applications will be uploaded on the website as soon as the program is announced.

Pakistan Scottish Scholarship Scheme

APPLICATIONS OPEN
The Scottish Government is providing scholarship opportunities for young women from disadvantaged backgrounds to study at Masters Level in Pakistani Universities and is delighted to be supporting this scheme which is helping women in Pakistan achieve their potential and ambitions, helping to build a secure future for themselves and their families.
British Council Pakistan will administer the scheme in Pakistan and directly coordinate with the selected scholars and universities.
THE AWARD:
Pakistan Scottish Scholarship Scheme will facilitate award-holders with the following incentives:
  • Tuition fee for Masters’ courses
  • University hostel costs
  • Subsistence to the award holder
  • In case of a hostelite; travel to and from home to university three times a year
SUBJECT AREAS:
The scholarship will cover a Master’s degree at any HEC-recognised university of Pakistan in one of the following subject areas:
  • Sustainable Energy
  • Food Security and Agriculture
  • Education
  • Health Sciences
ELIGIBILITY:
The following criteria must be met to be considered eligible for the scholarship:
  • Only female applicants can apply
  • Applicant should be a Pakistani national, currently residing in Pakistan
  • Undertaking a one or two-year Masters’ programme only
  • Applicant should hold a confirmed offer from a HEC-recognised university in Pakistan

Applications for Chevening Scholarships can only be submitted using the Chevening online application system, available through the 'apply' button on this page.
Prior to starting your application for a Chevening Scholarship please ensure you have the following ready:
Essential:
  • Two references to be provided in a letter format and written in English
  • Valid passport/national ID card
  • University transcripts (undergraduate, postgraduate)
  • Three different UK Master's course choices
Please note that only documents in PDF format can be uploaded and documents cannot be over 5MB in size.
Optional:
  • English language (if already met the requirements) 
  • UK Master's university offer (if already met the requirements)
You can submit your initial application without these optional documents and upload them to your application at any point up to 14 July 2016. 
Please note that if you are eventually conditionally selected for a Chevening Scholarship, it is essential that you provide evidence that you meet the Chevening English language requirements and that you have at least one offer from an eligible course before 14 July 2016 in order to remain in the process.
